In contemporary scenario, the role of apex policy makers and administrators has become of paramount importance, owing to the emergence of the lethal Indian COVID-19 pandemic. There has been hardly any aspect of a common man’s life which has been left untouched by the policies formulated to handle the pandemic situation. The emergence of the India COVID-19 pandemic turned the entire world mechanism upside down leaving everyone in state of pitiable despair. Along with hazardous and lethal ramifications to the health of the individual, it brought with it many challenges which affected the life of a person haphazardly. All of these challenges were interlinked to a considerable extent and required an effective working solution.

In order to handle the menace caused by this unprecedented virus, the role of administration and governance was pivotal catering to the needs and solving the grievances of the public. To flatten the curve, the government of India took several pro-active and swift steps which were initially criticised across the globe but later on seeing the positive impact of such steps, various countries decided to follow Indian footsteps. As soon as the first case was reported in India, the screening of the passengers coming from China began and they were recommended to follow several measures related to self-isolation. Contact tracing and the process of testing symptomatic patients was initiated in late January.

Several series of lockdown were imposed as a preventive measure. Section 144 was imposed in several parts which restricts the congregation of five or more five people in a particular area. It involves severe punishments for non-compliances as,under the law, anyone found in violation will be booked for disobeying a public servant under Section 188. To maintain a law-and-order situation amidst such tough times, our administrators raced against the clock to keep the wheels of governance turning in the right direction. Sanitisation of all the essential places was carried out under the supervision of these bureaucrats. The movement of people for fetching essential goods was when relaxation was given was closely monitored. Round marks and big circles were constructed at various places to ensure social distancing. Curfew Passes were issued to the people who needed them for travelling in extreme cases. The unnecessary movement of people was tapped on and legal action was undertaken at various places by the bureaucrats for the ones violating these norms.

The administration has risen to the occasion to handle the situation in the right manner and to ease the tensed, morphed, and psychic stress caused to the people in the view of this pandemic. But the imposition of this lockdown had their perks and perils other than maintaining a law-and-order situation and they posed a couple of challenges before the administrative apparatus which needed to be taken care of.

To conclude it can be said that, this unprecedented exceptionally tough time is indeed a litmus test of the mental strength. Everyone is a part of the war-zone constantly fighting with invisible, treacherous, unbridled, nasty COVID-19. So, it’s high time we realize our duty to minimize the spread of this virus by staying inside our homes and following protocol by our heart and contributing to fighting with this virus with might so that each one of us can be a crusader.
